Flirting & Fishing

Flirting and fishing
have a lot in common.
Nice compliments
accompany one.

Stinky bait accompanies the other.

Problems occur
when one becomes confused
and mistakes one for the other.
Bait is needed for both.
Compliments bring smiles.
Stinky bait brings disdain.
Tales of success are expected
In one, but held with disdain

by the other.
Flirting and Fishing.

A breeze that sends quivers down your spine.
Meandering seagulls carry a scent of salt in the air.
The scorching heat of sand fried by the blinding sun.
The cooling relief of freezing muddy shore water.
The temporary sensation of cold evaporates
as I glide through wave after wave.
Feet finally find traction.
Hands scrub water from the eyes
and squeeze water from the face and hair.
A wave knocks me down and under.
I laugh while spitting water.
The beach is home.
My home.
Euphoria overtakes me.
Your beach.
My Beach.
Any Beach.
